Inaugural Ceremony

The Inaugural Ceremony of the year-long Platinum Jubilee Celebration was held on Staurday, 8th January, 2022, which was formally inaugurated by the Honourable Governor of Assam and the Chancellor of Gauhati University, Prof Jagdish Mukhi. The programme will started at 11:00 AM at BKB Auditorium.

Honourable Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique gave the welcome address in whch he gave a brief view of the rich history of the university along with a mention of certain recent achievemnets. In his inaugural addeess, the Chancellor Prof Jagdish Mukhi described how Gauhati Univetsity with its rich heritage and vibrant academic culture cintribute to the development of the society at large. He also emphaised on the issues which are the needs of the hour for an academic institution to address.

The honourable Chancellor inauguarted the digital version of the Gauhati University logo and the Platinum Jubilee logo. He also released a documentary created specially for this occasion which showcases various aspects and achievements of the university. The Vote of Thanks was offered by Prof Dilip Kakati, the Working President of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration Committee.

COVID Protocol

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, standard COVID protocol was in force and the BKB Auditorium was allwoed ONLY to the half capacity. There was outdoor LED screen for live viewing of the programme for people who witnessed this historic event live.
